We can know by the very composition of a cable or by the type of enamel in magnet wire which musical tone we should expect. It’s not all that difficult, really. For example, a pickup winder knows which type of magnet wire belongs in each variety of pickup; by using Plain Enamel magnet wire in PAF-style pickups to Heavy Formvar in 1950’s single coils, a certain musical tone is produced, which then achieves the desired end result.

Whether it is the magnet wire used to wind guitar pickup coils to vintage cloth “pushback” wire that connects the pickups to the various components, or even the cable that connects the guitar to the amplifier — including the heat shrink tubing that protects the plug housing — we want to bring American-made high quality components to an industry that shares our passion: the pursuit of excellent musical tone.

There are many options of metalized fibers that have been said can cause FOD issues when used in an outer-space environment. This will not happen with SPACE-LITE® braid.

The carbon nano-tube process is still many years away from a high production solution as we have been involved with several trial materials that just don’t hit the mark for today’s environment.  We have partnered in SBIR’s with light weight composite materials that turn out to be very limited in application and probably not worth the potential weight savings it may bring.

We now offer one of the smallest coaxial connectors for pico coaxial cables with an extremely high EMC shielding that can withstand high mechanical forces.

The requirement of EMC tight housings specifically for the termination of wires and cables are growing and this ultra-miniature, high reliable connector can be rapidly assembled for harsh environment applications. Frequencies can be transferred by the cables into the housing and the EMC filter submits these frequencies to the ground. The cable plug offers a reliable shielding due to the crimp termination and the connector for box mounting can be soldered or welded. Qualified for aircraft applications with an overall diameter of 1.20 mm.

Paul Moseley Appointed New President/CEO of BTC Electronic Components

Moseley brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his background in both international and North American markets.

Moseley officially took the reigns of the company on August 13, 2012. Robert Barnett, founder and previous President/CEO, is transitioning to fully focus on his position as chairman of BTC.

BTC Offers New Lightweight Aluminum Connector from Hermetic Seal Corporation

This new lightweight hybrid hermetic connector offers weight savings up to 68% over similar stainless steel construction.

BTC Electronic Components (BTC – Wake Forest, NC) announced that it’s offering new lightweight aluminum hybrid hermetic connectors from Hermetic Seal Corporation (HSC). HSC – part of Ametek/HCC Interconnect Technologies – is now producing in volume, a lightweight hybrid hermetic connector with weight savings up to 68% over similar stainless steel construction. By combining an aluminum shell, stainless steel inserts and 52 alloy pins provides a true glass-to-metal seal (GTMS) connector.

Current configurations include: MIL-DTL-5015 Class “H” and MIL-DTL-38999 Rev “J”. Other configurations are available based upon specific requirements.

This connector is a good fit for designers looking for weight savings. To date the main application has been on the F-35.

BTC Electronic Components Expands Product Base With Preci-Dip AS39029 Contacts

Preci-Dip is a leading manufacturer of interconnect components and further expands BTC Electronic Components’ extensive product roster.

Connector distributor BTC Electronic Components (BTC) has announced the expansion of their product roster with Preci-Dip AS39029 (formerly Mil-C-39029) QPL Listed and Hoodless Contacts.  Preci-Dip is a leading manufacturer of interconnect components and one of the world's foremost producers of screw-machined and spring-loaded contacts.

The AS39029 QPL Listed Contact features Preci-Dip’s patented reversed clip technology for harsh environments.  This design offers several advantages over traditional slotted contact bodies including reduced dispersion of force value, better redundancy at the level of contact point and smaller difference between insertion and extraction force.  These contacts have successfully passed all the qualification tests according to AS39029 and are QPL listed.

Preci-Dip’s AS39029 Hoodless Contacts consist of two parts – the contact body and the clip – which offers significant advantages over the slotted contact model.  The contacts also feature Preci-Dip’s patented Eagle Grip Socket Contact Technology which provides optimal symmetry and concentricity of the contact fingers thanks to the compact geometry of the stamp part.
